New London gives us two very different jobs. There are the older colonials in and around the village, where the roofline is usually steep, complicated and full of the valleys and dormers that leaks actually start in, and where matching what is already there matters to the owner. Then there are the properties higher up with the long views, which are great to stand on and take a real beating: wind up there gets under shingle edges in a way it never does in a sheltered yard, and it is worth talking about metal or a heavier shingle on an exposed slope rather than replacing the same roof twice.
