Bradford is farmhouse country, and an old farmhouse is rarely one building. It is a house that grew, with an ell, a shed and often a barn attached, added at different times by different people, so you get roof planes meeting at angles nobody planned. Those junctions and the valleys they create are where we start looking. The other thing about these buildings is that the roof frame is often original and worth respecting, so before we quote a heavier material we want to know what is holding it up. It is a much better problem to answer while the roof is off than after.
